Steve has been a Scout for most of his life. His father was a professional Scouter in the Salem area.   Steve has one son in the Troop. Steve is a strong believer in Boy Led scouting and has been working with the boy leadership to create a excellent program. While Steve was Scoutmaster, the troop almost doubled in size and continues to having a great recruiting program.

Steve was the Scoutmaster for one of the CPC contingents attending the 2005 National Jamboree. Steve was also the Chair of Program for both the 2002 and 2003 Sunset Trail Webelos Woods.

Steve moved into the Assistant Scoutmaster role in 2006 to support and mentor the new Scoutmaster, Scott Newman, and continues to support Troop 872.
